Matoucat was one of the first skatepark in France and we were really lucky to grew up close to this incredible place. Imagine a large concrete snake with wood extensions and mini-ramps, (click here for an overview) driven by three passionates skaters / surfers which were really enthusiasts about sharing skateboarding.
When the Bones Brigade (Tony Hawk, Frankie Hill, Lance Mountain, Nicky Guerrero Stephane Larance, Seb Daurel...) and the team Death Box (Peter Hewitt, Natas Kaupas...) passed by Matoucat in summer 1991, we were almost 12. It was major for us because we understood about the weightiness of US skateboarders, gave us lots of lines and tricks to do and confirm that Matoucat runners were soo right about this place.
These pictures are from spring 2001 when no one was managing the place, excepting us, trying to keep it clean and always negotiating with the proprietary and cops when it was too crowded. In order of appearance, Vincent, Fabien and Nadège tried to keep it alive as long as they can...
